i'd really like to know if the wts has ever been correct ... in all honesty.
i don't mean subjective, fuzzy dogma that has no empirical basis ... i mean stuff like 1914 and the original idea that it would be end of the world; millions now living will never die; 1975; the generation will not pass away ... ad infinitum.
i have no axe to grind ... i'd really like to know.

i'm startin' off this jwd soul train thread with something that's not very "soul-ish", but very appropo.....50 ways to leave your lover....with a few of the words changed to fit in with our "pause to see".....can anyone help this thread with a "lift-off" by changing some of the words in aretha's "think" and "r.e.s.p.e.c.t."???.
50 ways to leave watchtower.
the problem is all inside your head.
Skally said..
Just burn the stack jack..

I remember when I went through my first wave of getting rid of the J.W. books.
Interesting to look at the different types of books that are in my bookcase now.
Thanks for the memory, Minimus.

those life stories of bros and sis's in the awakes and wts were always very inspirational and encouraging to me when i was in the borg.
everyone enjoyed reading them.
now i realise that these experiences would have been censored and edited for maximum affect on the readers.
Hi Trumangirl
I agree with you on what you said,
"Now I realise that these experiences would have been censored and edited for maximum affect on the readers."
I feel the same way about all those stories now.

i read this article in the montreal gazette that talked about a young witness kid being bullied in school.
it made me think back to all the times i was treated differently in school for being a jehovah's witness.
i grew up in a predominately mexican community and went to public school there from 1st-12th grade as a jw.
Yes being a J.W. in school was brutal.
sometimes it was the teachers who treated you awful for being a witness kid and sometimes it was the other kids who picked on you.
Kids can be cruel, teachers can be even worse.
For a kid being ridiculed or bullied in school.. the "just wait on Jehovah crap" just doesn't cut it.

i had my girls over last night for dinner.
during the conversation, we talked about a number of things, in where i detected that they have grown up so much in making decisions for themselves that are totally contrary to the borg beliefs and standards.
the movies they watch, music they listen to, people they hang out with, parties they go to, video games they play.. i have talked to my girls everyday since last week.
This is wonderful Puternut
I had my fingers and toes crossed for you that they would come for supper and continue back into a relationship with their one and only father.
Super, super super news.
I'm very happy for you.
Enjoy your family.

funny story: a few months ago my friend and i were driving down the street.
i saw a "sister" walking so i told my friend to pull over and give her a ride.
Hi Cerise Rose
For some reason I really enjoyed reading that.
It felt liberating, so to speak.
Yes, and I want more cheezits.. too..

okay, it seems it's high time we had another thread like this!.
for serious reading, i have exceptions to the rulers by amy goodman (goes great with fahrenheit 911!
)the curse of adam by bryan skyles (i think) (it predicts the extinction of males.
I read all the Diana Gabaldon Series...all 5 Plus my husband bought me "The Outlandish Companion"for Christmas.
I just finished reading "When Bad Things Happen to Good People".
My neighbour and I are both reading that one. Her husband has terminal brain cancer.
Alot of good thought processes in the first 1/2 of that book.

with milk being contaminated with blood components such as albumen and white blood cells, should jws consume dairy products?
Since you put it this way Pleasuredome,
"considering nearly all JWs will be eating blood everyday?"
Sorta makes J.W.'s sound like vampires? LOL.
I didn't know there was blood stuff in milk. Who'd a thunk?
...
Even if an animal is bled properly there is still blood residue, in and on the meat, and it's okay to eat that. Maybe milk is the same.
Sometimes on T.V. or National Geographic, I used to cringe when I used to see those people who used to stick a sharp straw like thingy in a cows neck and drain out the blood into a cup.. Ewwww and drink it.
